Frequently Asked Questions
What do you charge?
Depends on what you’re planning. Let us know the details of your big day (date, venue, etc.) and we’ll get you a quote that includes consultation, rehearsal, and the service. We require a small non-refundable deposit to reserve a date/time.
Where can we get a marriage license?
Let us google that for you: Information on marriage licenses in Franklin County.
May we write our own wedding vows?
Totally. The vows that you say may be your own words, something we write for you, or, frankly, you don’t have to say vows… It’s whatever you want.
Are you available to meet with us before the ceremony?
Yeah, we’d prefer it. And it’s part of the package. We’ll even meet with you before you commit to using our services.
Will you attend the wedding rehearsal?
Yep, also part of the deal.
Our wedding will be out of town. Will you perform our ceremony?
Yes, but there is an additional surcharge based on distance. Want to take us out of state with you? Let’s talk about it.
What do I need to do to legally change my last name after we are married?
After completion of the ceremony, we will sign the marriage license. We will then return your marriage license to the Probate Court. The Probate Court will then certify the document and record the marriage. Your marriage certificate will be available for order from the Probate Court after about 5 business days. There is a $2 fee for your marriage certificate. You will need original copies of this document for changing your name on driver’s license, credit cards, bank accounts, etc. Following your ceremony, we’ll send you a detailed email describing the steps in the order that makes the name change process easiest.
How much advance notice do you need in order to book a wedding?
Our availability changes depending on the time of year. Most couples book with us anywhere from 6 to 12 months in advance while others do it only a month or two before the wedding. We try to be flexible in accommodating you.
How long is the ceremony?
Once we have worked with you to create or customize your ceremony, we will be able to give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of time. Short answer: A ceremony ususally lasts between 15-30 minutes.
What do you wear?
Unless otherwise requested, a standard black suit and tie. But we like playing dress up too.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Check/cash/credit/PayPal
Do you stay for the reception?
If you like. But that’s up to you.
I am currently out of state or too far to meet with you before the wedding. Can I still book your services?
Welcome to the internet age. Hit us up and we can do our consultation however you like (email/Skype/Twitter/Facetime/SnapChat).
What’s the difference between a marriage license and a marriage certificate?
The marriage license is obtained from the Probate Court and must be obtained before your wedding. The marriage certificate is obtained after the wedding from the Probate Court. The marriage certificate is the legal proof of your married status.
